E-Book is short for Electronic Book. An
electronic book is one that is read on a computer or
eBook "reader", such as Amazon's Kindle.
In his 1996 book titled The Road Ahead,Bill
Gateswrote about the eBook and the electronic distribution of
information as "friction-free" capitalism. Citing
the book publishing industry as one where the then current "business
model" was inefficient and "full of friction", he predicted that eBooks
would create new opportunities for self-publishers and consumers of
information.
While we fully recognize and acknowledge that that in many cases a
"physical" book is a superior and more desirable format than
an eBook, we
believe that the eBook format has its place. In particular, the
eBook is the most cost-effective format for publishing specialized books
and manuals that cover a specific topic - the kind that coaches produce
and use.
Our software and eBook distribution site - the CompuSports Media Exchange,
serves as a clearinghouse for electronic books for the sports and
coaching community. The CompuSports Media Exchange
offers a "see it,
learn about it, buy it, and have it" customer experience for buyers of "How-to" books on a
specific topic - the type that are often not available through
traditional channels.
